ECOSLC Foundation congratulates Turkmenbashi International Port, Turkmenistan, on achieving ECOPORTS PERS Certification in June 2023 for the first time.

EcoPorts PERS is the only environmental and sustainable management standard that is fully tailored to the specific roles and responsibilities of ports. The standard requires, amongst others, that the port presents an overview of the main environmental and sustainable impacts of its port process. This is a basis for realizing improvements in this by applying environmental laws and its own environmental policy.

EcoPorts Certification makes the port a member of the global Network of EcoPorts Certified ports. This network was set up to share practical experiences between these ports. This global Network is also intended to contribute to greening of the port sector.

The Certification process of Turkmenbashi International Port was supported by the OSCE as part of its project Promoting Green Ports and Connectivity in the Caspian Sea Region Phase II.

The EcoPorts Management system is offered outside Europe by ECOSLC Foundation, located in the Netherlands via the ECOSLC website (www.phpstack-907308-3539791.cloudwaysapps.com). Compliance with the EcoPorts PERS standard is independently assessed by LRQA Netherlands. The certificate has a validity of 2 years.
